Description:
Under the general direction of the Laboratory Research Supervisor 2, responsible for the performance of organic analysis for the determination of xenobiotic residues in biological specimens. Responsible for participating in the update & development of analytical procedures, quality control procedures, & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsible for interacting with external clients to accept "B" samples for analysis

Qualifications/Experience:
-Master's degree in analytical chemistry, including organic residue analysis using HPLC, MS & GC instrumentation or equivalent educational background & experience to equate to a Master's degree.
-Knowledge of analytical chemistry & demonstrated skills to critically read, interpret, & apply & procedures for analysis of biological samples as described in literature.
-Advanced skills in the operation of a wide range of computer-controlled analytical equipment including liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
-Knowledge & skills to develop novel approaches or modify described/ published analytical procedures to expand testing capabilities.
-Knowledge & skills to develop & validate new &/or modified analytical procedures as needed for research or to confirm the presence & quantity of drugs in a variety of test matrixes under the requirements of an ISO 17025 accredited lab.
-Knowledge & skills to edit & provide critical feedback to written analytical procedures & papers for publication.
-Expertise in sample preparation techniques such as liquid-liquid & solid phase extraction, sample fortification, & matrix matching.
-Skills to maintain, operate & trouble-shoot analytical instrumentation & obtain maximum performance from equipment.
-Skills to prepare analytical reagents, solutions, controls & standards.
-Computer skills including data entry, spreadsheets, e-mail, database.
-Organizational skills to schedule work activities.
-Skills to provide training in analytical techniques, laboratory procedures, & analytical instrumentation operation & theory.
-Skills to appropriately handle/dispose of hazardous materials.
-Knowledge of QA/QC & skills to apply this knowledge to continuously produce high quality data.
-Knowledge of & aptitude to follow safe working practices.
