The Scientist I, Translation Omics will use cutting edge analytical techniques, with a focus on mass spectrometry, to identify new biological targets, verify compound engagement and ascertain pharmacodynamic effects across the PTC Therapeutics pipeline. The candidate will join a diverse team employing multi-omics approaches to interrogate both cellular metabolism/flux as well as systems level biological changes associated with genetic and/or disease phenotypes.

Primary duties and responsibilities will include: 

• Create and optimize quantitative LC-MS based targeted assays (SRM/MRM) across a diverse range of biomarker classes.
• Develop new and improve upon existing sample preparation procedures for LC-MS assays conducive to multi-omics analyses of cellular systems, biofluids, and tissues.
• Expand existing biomarker assays to greater cover targeted disease pathways.
• Integrate and visualize multi-omic datasets to elucidate changes in dynamic biological systems.

The Scientist I, Translation Omics is responsible for planning and performing scientific experiments that contribute to PTC’s research and drug discovery activities. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments, and external resources as appropriate, as part of PTC’s discovery science project teams.

The Scientist I, Translational Omics supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

• Extensive hands-on experience with both targeted (QQQ) and high resolution (FTICR, Q-ToF, etc.) mass spectrometers
• Detailed knowledge of separation techniques for small and large molecules with applied experience on chromatography systems in multiple flow regimes (e.g. micro and nano)
• Experience with developing isolation, enrichment, and purification strategies for both rare and less stable analytes in multiple biological matrices
• Capable of working with large datasets, proficient in data processing/reduction strategies, and experience with both statistical and visualization software packages
• Prior use of isotopically labeled workflows (e.g. SILAC, iTRAQ, etc.) to measure cellular flux and/or quantitate multi-omics changes without a priori knowledge is preferred
• While multi-omics experience is preferred, exceptional candidates focusing on a single omics field (e.g. metabolomics, spatial-omics,  lipidomics, phosphoproteomics, etc.) will be considered
