Scientist (contractor), Biotransformation, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist (contractor position) to join the biotransformation group in the Department of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics at Genentech (South San Francisco, CA). The successful candidate will support discovery biotransformation related studies of small molecule, peptide and other modalities in the discovery stage.
Primary responsibilities:
- Profiling and identifying drug metabolites in biological matrices using high resolution LC-MS/MS and metabolite identification software.
- Developing and implementing appropriate in vitro and in vivo assays to investigate drug metabolism during drug discovery phases of small molecules and peptides.
- Identifying metabolite identities, major metabolic pathways, responsible metabolizing enzymes and structure-metabolism relationships.
- Collaborating with different team settings and CROs to advance projects.
- Presenting and publishing scientific findings across the organization and at professional conferences and journals.
- Evaluating and leveraging new technologies and in silico tools.
Qualifications/Experience:
Key qualifications:
- PhD or MS degree in pharmaceutical science, organic, analytical, medicinal and chemistry, or other relevant discipline. Experience with pharmaceutical related field is preferred.
- Experience with high resolution mass spectrometry application, method development and trouble-shooting.
- Experience with lab techniques such as sample prep, data analysis and structure elucidation of small molecules and/or peptides.
- Working knowledge of drug metabolism, reaction mechanisms, and related enzymes is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven track record of scientific achievements and communication skills.
